Board of Trustees
Whilst Casa Timotei is not yet a fully constituted association under Romanian law, we have in place a board of trustees, who work on behalf of our stakeholders. Seven members of the Board meet together once a month to set the strategy for the projects, review progress, and to provide support and encouragement to our team of volunteers.
Your Board believes in the benefits of using an enterprise-wide risk management and assurance programme. The trustees are being trained in good corporate governance practices, and in their turn the Casa Timotei team are encouraged to adopt appropriate risk and control processes. Management is also introducing appropriate levels of internal assurance
Each key element of our work is described in terms of a policy statement. All our policy statements begin with a statement of our beliefs and intentions, on which our procedures are then based. We believe that our day-to-day actions should reflect our beliefs, and that our beliefs should be worked out in practice. What is more, if our working practices truly reflect our beliefs, and we work out our faith in our daily interactions with others, our policies cannot be regarded as secret. Therefore they are available to anyone on request, and our principle beliefs will be on public display inside the building.

Casa Timotei exists to glorify God, looking to Him for our inspiration,
and trusting Him for the completion of the work He has set us
Our mission statement begins by mentioning our biggest stakeholder. A stakeholder is someone who has an interest in the success of the organisation. The person with the biggest interest in our success is God Himself.
This first part of our mission statement answers the question, “Why do we exist?” Ultimately we exist in order to bring glory to God. We know that He has called us to a mission, and He will be glorified if we complete the mission that He has given us. In everything we do, in every project which makes up Casa Timotei, in every conversation, we do it all by putting God first. We see Him in the eyes of everyone we meet. We hear Him in every conversation that takes place.
Our mission statement also reminds us of our beliefs : it reminds us that everything do we is inspired by God, that He is the source of everything we do, and that we are not working in Casa Timotei for our own glory or benefit. Our Father plants in our hearts a desire to be a part of this mission - we are not doing any of this for ourselves, and we are not building our own egos. We are here to serve Him.
And because we trust Him, and because we know that it is His work, we have complete confidence in Him. He will do it. |
Casa Timotei is a community of evangelical Christian believers, committed to practical service among the people of Reşiţa, under the guidance of Number One Baptist Church
A mission statement is a very visible document. It is designed to be seen and read not only by the Timothy House community, but by anyone and everyone. The second part of our mission statement therefore tells the reader who we are as a community.
So what is the essential nature of the Casa Timotei community? Who are we, and what makes us distinctive? As believers we each confess with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour, and we believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. As evangelicals we believe in the authority of Scripture, and that a personal relationship with Jesus is essential if we are to grow to become more like Him.
We recognise that we are a small community living as only one part of the wider Church. Whilst we may each come from different Christian communtities, we are ultimately under the guidance and authority of Jesus as exercised through the leadership of Number One Baptist Church, Reşiţa. The Church is also a Timothy House stakeholder, with an interest in our work and actions.
And along with all believers we recognise that we are called to be salt and light in the community in which we live. We answer together with Isaiah, “Here I am; send me!” |
Casa Timotei aims to help meet the needs of the people of Reşiţa :
- by living and being the good news of Jesus Christ to the surrounding community;
- by providing a welcoming place of compassion and care; and
- by strengthening and encouraging believers in their faith through teaching and training
The third element of our mission statement reminds us of the opportunities that God has given us, and sets out a challenge for the future. It answers the question, “What do we want to see happen over the next few years?”
We believe that all followers of Jesus need to become a transforming influence in the community in which they live, and that we are no exception. Whether we have been born in the city, moved there with our families, or have been called there, we are part of a large community called Reşiţa, and it is alongside this community that we will work.
This element of our mission statement also reminds us of our third group of stakeholders, other people who have an interest in the success of Casa Timotei and our ministry - the people of Reşiţa who we are called to love and serve.
Our mission statement therefore gives us a glimpse of the future. Based on Scripture, it is a lantern, showing us the direction we should take in order to complete the task God has given us. It is an anchor, preventing us from deviating from the place where He wants us to work. It is a voice of conscience, reminding us of the people who we are serving, and their needs. |
Casa Timotei behaves before God as a son before his father, holding on to faith and a good conscience, and with a genuine interest in the welfare of the people of Reşiţa
The fourth element of our mission statement lets the reader know how we will behave towards them. It is our statement of values.
Every organisation and community has a set of standards by which it lives. We know that we are children of God, and so we believe we should behave as children before their father, with love, honour and respect.
The first part of our mission statement declares our belief in God’s calling, that He inspires our actions, and that He will complete the work that He has started. Therefore central to our behaviour is that very faith which is needed to keep our eyes fixed on His faithfulness. Faith in God and His promises is central to our behaviour. If we trust in God we will be counted as righteous in His sight.
The word “conscience” means ‘with knowledge’, and represents all our actions. Everything we do, say and think must be clean before God, and we try to ensure our actions are honourable and honest at all times.
And finally, we believe in the work to which God has called us, and therefore our attitude towards the community which we serve is genuine - one of love, compassion, consideration, and joy. |
